In the closing episode of the season, Napoleon Dynamite goes head to head against a fierce rival for the Future Farmers of America state competition.
The 16-year-old protagonist was already pretty much hyped for the competition but his partner didn’t seem to share the same enthusiasm as him. It dawned on Curtis that participating in the event would be tantamount to voluntarily submitting himself to mockery by Don Moser and his minions. Therefore, to evade what seemed like social suicide, he bailed out, leaving Napoleon without partner…but not for long.
The blonde teenager turned to his ever-trusty Mexican friend Pedro who, after a persuasive and creative proposal by Napoleon, said yes to being the other half of Team Dynamite.
Now Napoleon was just brimming with confidence. Being the previous year’s winner, he had an air of positivity that the results of the competition are in his favor. To add up to his confidence level, Napoleon has earned himself a set of rabid fangirls…but again, not for long. Filson (voiced by Sam Rockwell), in his sleeveless jacket, flared denims, and long locks, easily stole the spotlight from him.
As much as they hate it, both share a couple of commonalities. For one, they both have won the competition during earlier editions. Secondly, they’re both extremely determined to be crowned as champs again. But Filson’s passion for winning has reached absurd levels that he purposefully failed his senior year so that he’d be able to qualify.
If postponing high school graduation didn’t indicate an obsession with the FFA contest, his dirty strategies would. Filson used his girlfriend to be a diversionary tactic against Team Dynamite. The plan was basically to cause a rift between Napoleon and Pedro.
The duo did quarrel, as Filson anticipated, but their friendship was able to overcome it.
